COVID Response Team Delivers Thanksgiving

Updated: Dec 28, 2020

Many people in our neighborhood this year were worried they couldn't put a Thanksgiving meal on the table this year. One Community, and our partners, stood up and put together a program to supplement our weekly grocery delivery and fill this gap for all the households that we provide food to on a weekly basis.

This Saturday, the 1,617 households we deliver to each week in Farragut, Ingersoll, Whitman and Atlantic Terminal will be receiving turkeys and an additional bag of Thanksgiving sides. Furthermore, we've made a system to deliver these safely, bringing food to each person's door rather than gathering at one pick-up location.

At a Glance:

  • 1,200 turkeys

  • 225 volunteers packing, driving, and delivering

  • 75 donors

  • 30 local organizations & businesses working together to make this possible

Bike Path, the Backstory

One Community is very opportunistic. We look at Fort Greene/Clinton, Brooklyn resources and brainstorm how we can apply them to create a more equitable community. Of course, Citi Bike is omnipresent
