Pick a mission below and help create greater equity in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill.
1. HELP DISTRIBUTE FOOD TO SENIORS: We deliver groceries to seniors and other vulnerable people who do not have a safe way of getting food while in isolation. Most live in public housing in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. We reach about 1200 households weekly. For a Covid-19 SAFE HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE, join 60 volunteers packing bags of groceries on Fridays from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm or delivering groceries from 9:00 or 10:00 am -12:00 or 1:00 pm on Saturdays. Packing is at our warehouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Delivery starts at various locations in Fort Greene.
2. CALL FOOD RECIPIENTS TO UPDATE THEIR NEEDS, CONFIRM THEIR PREFERENCES: Our food comes from government sources that require that we confirm information about the recipients. We also value feedback about the amount and nature of food we are giving out. Volunteer A COUPLE OF HOURS TO MAKE SHORT CALLS FROM ANYWHERE and log information on an on-line spreadsheet. A script will be provided.
3. COMPILE NEIGHBORHOOD INFORMATION: We need to update our presentation materials which show the extent of inequality in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill and the contrasting performance of local schools serving poor and middle class + parts of the neighborhood. Be loudly applauded if you would pull the relevant INFORMATION FROM THE INTERNET and assemble some presentation materials. I will help shape the task to be efficient.
4. KEEP ONE COMMUNITY LOOKING GOOD AND RUNNING SMOOTHLY. A great need for you to help with website design and our social media presence.
